Ash On The Square Table |

Ash On the Square
is one of several pieces of furniture that are featured in a
traveling exposition called “Rising from the Ashes” (see
http://www.risingfromashes.org). This exposition calls
attention to the devastation of ash trees in the Midwest caused by
the Emerald Ash Borer beetle. The furniture displayed is all made
of ash, most of which was harvested from affected trees.
This table is sturdily constructed utilizing mortise and tenon
joinery methods. The frame and legs are solid ash, while the top
and side square ornaments make use of curly ash veneer. Inlayed
into the table top are brass highlights with contrasting bucote
wood strips in between.
